The Top 5 Things To Do In Tahiti

5. Go Home

4. Piss away all your money in record time in dirty conditions, with tons of tourists and no beaches in sight; I like to think the unofficial slogan for Tahiti should be, “Third World Living at First World Prices.”

3. Go to Moorea, a much smaller, fantastically beautiful island with killer beaches at just 7 miles off the Tahiti coast. [See Top 10 list, below]

2. Go to Huanine, an even smaller, extremely remote island 30 miles from Tahiti. I’ll have to go there some time. [This option requires a plane ticket on an island hopper or at least a week extra to take the 4 hour ferries each way.]

1. Go to Bora Bora (40 miles from Tahiti), spend a fortune, but live like a King or even better, a Rock Star! This clearly requires a plane ticket and you have to pay to play, but Bora Bora has several of the prettiest 5 star resorts in any tropical paradise. When I grop up (in 10-20 more years), this is where I must go. What’s US$800 a night for a bungalow over the water with glass bottom view ports? Check out the below links when you are ready to go.

The Top 10 Things To Do On Moorea

10. Lounge

9. Walk along the beautiful white-sand beaches.

8. Go for a swim in the cyrstal blue, tropical waters of the South Pacific.

7. Lounge on said beatiful white-sand beaches.

6. Snorkel with a dozen or so 3 or 4 foot reef sharks, while the locals chum the water inside the reef (which fortunately keeps the really big guys out).

5. Lounge on the beach with an ice cold beer (though it is pretty rare to find ice here).

4. Drive around the island (car, moped, bus or bike) and check out all the great beaches, huge waves braking on the reefs 300 yards off shore and gaze up at the lush green volcanic mountains that tower above.

3. Go diving at any of the 20 sweet dive sites, with 130 foot visibility, dozens of sharks and tons of other sea life. Bonus points if your dive master pulls out a dry bag with chum and hand feeds the 5 and 6 foot sharks with a chain-mail glove – immediate feeding frenzy!

2. Go snorkling with the 40 or so sting rays that live around the 4 foot shallows of stingray bay. This was fantastic as the sting rays are fairly docile and used to people, so the swim around you, slide up your chest and flap their wings up against your body as they seek free food, or simply attention and affection like a pack of puppies or kittens. The stingrays range in size from a 2 foot diameter to a 5 foot diameter. Bonus points for grabbing the wings and getting a free ride through the water – that was really cool!

1. Avoid reality and true civilization for a short while longer…
